Eager to touch
a trace of him,
hoping to feel
his essence,
as the guide turns,
I slip my hand
beyond the red rope,
grasp the arm
of his rocking chair.
A man’s marrow
remains in things.
Original energy
lingers.
Your Own Story
Telling it feels
maybe a little indulgent
even self-absorbed
possibly misremembered
like when the cat fell
through the porch
or a bird knocked
on the back door
